Our Most Common Questions

As a parent, we know there are certain things that you need to know before partnering with Great Leaps
  • Great Leaps is built around short, focused bursts of practice that train the most critical reading skills — fluency, phonics, and comprehension — without overwhelming students. We stay within their attention span, which is critical for students with ADHD and maintaining motivation for ALL students.
  • Each 15-minute session is highly structured and one-on-one, meaning every minute is used efficiently. The program uses proven methods like repeated reading and immediate corrective feedback, which are backed by decades of literacy research.
  • Because lessons are short and goal-oriented, students stay engaged, build confidence quickly, and retain what they learn. With daily or near-daily practice, that focused 15 minutes compounds into major growth — often years of reading progress in just a few months.

We provide up to 2 makeup sessions per month as long as you provide our team and your tutor a 24-hour notice via text or email. We also know things like power outages, internet issues, or stomach viruses can hit at a moment's notice, so long as you make an effort to communicate with our team, we will provide a makeup session for you.

That answer is specific to each child! Our goal is to create STRONG independent readers with a foundation that will allow them to continue to improve their reading on their own. We achieve this through your child graduating from all 3 sections of Great Leaps (Phonics, High Frequency Word Phrases, and Stories). We've also had students who have caught up to their peers in a matter of months, enabling them to have renewed confidence and a stronger foundation, and no longer need a dedicated intervention. Once this is achieved, we can continue working with them on their reading stamina, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary with nonfiction material to better equip them for the academic demands of middle school and high school.

  • If we fail, we'll give a 100% refund. I bet they didn't do that, did they?
  • Our program is MOTIVATING. Many competitors are boring, and don't provide enough attention to your child's behavior.
  • Our programs build skills such as phonics to support their reading. Many competitors are so focused on skill building, they lose sight of the ultimate goal of reading fluently with comprehension.
  • Great Leaps is research and evidence-based! There is also a lot of "fluff" out there that may sound good or look fun, but we have ingrained the research into our intervention and instructional methods.
  • The student-tutor relationship is also critical! Building a strong rapport is what helps keep your child engaged and motivated.
  • Success breeds success! Many programs begin at your child's frustration level without even knowing it! In Great Leaps your child sees their progress with each session as they progress through exercises.

We always ask that parents remain in the presence of your child during a tutoring session. Additionally, all tutors undergo background checks prior to being hired. On top of this, each tutoring session on our platform is recorded and stored for 6 months to protect both our tutors and your child.
